Native of Haiti, Attorney Altagracia Pierre-Outerbridge is founder and owner of Outerbridge Law P.C. in Midtown Manhattan. She is multilingual, speaking French, Creole, Spanish, and English, with an MBA and a passion for helping others. She serves clients in many demographics. Needing to flee Haiti after her brother was assassinated, she came to the United States at 15 with her 12 year old brother. They came alone, as her family was divided at this time. 

Her story is one of great courage and determination to always be challenged and never give up. As you listen, you will be amazed at what she overcame to be who she is today, truly showing that no matter who you are or where you come from, you too can succeed in anything you want in this life.

Bruce Pulver is a TEDx Speaker, a published author and a high demand authority on the power of our words in driving our outcomes. Forced into an unexpected career transition (a layoff), it was imperative for him to find the strength and a new way of providing for his family. Episode 68: Scott Flansburg, The Human Calculator

Scott Flansburg is known as “The Human Calculator” and holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest mental calculation after adding the same number to itself more times in 15 seconds, faster than anyone could do with a calculator. He discovered his mental calculation ability at the age of 9 when his math teacher asked him to add four numbers. He can mentally add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers with the accuracy of a calculator.

One of his personal missions is to use education to elevate math confidence and self-esteem in adults and children. He has been featured on popular shows around the world like The Ellen Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, USA Today, BBC breakfast, ESPN, History Channel, and many more. 

He is also the annual host and founder of The Counting Bee, a fast-paced annual STEM competition open for K-12 students at all public, private, charter and home schools to find the fastest human counters.

Episode 67: Dr. Paul LeBlanc, Advising Youth On Higher Education

Summary

Dr. Paul LeBlanc is the President of Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). Since 2003, SNHU has grown from 2,800 students to over 150,000 learners and is the largest nonprofit provider of online higher education in the country. Forbes Magazine has listed him as one of its 15 “Classroom Revolutionaries” and one of the “most influential people in higher education.” Washington Monthly named him one of America’s ten most innovative university presidents. 

Today he speaks at the United By Education Virtual Summit addressing youth on the transformation of higher education and what young people should look at when selecting a post-secondary school to attend. There is a greater emphasis now more than ever on performance and project-based learning. As well companies are changing and looking for different skills that only come with hands-on learning. 

It is an episode with great advice for adolescents about to graduate high school and young adults who are still unsure of what they want to do. Hopefully Dr. LeBlanc will shed some light on this for them.

Greg Walker was born and raised on the south side of Columbus, Ohio. He is the only one of fifteen children to ever graduate high school. He once lived in a drug infested, alcoholic, and domestic violent environment, but he has overcome many obstacles. Coming from a family of failures, he was teased and labeled a slow learner and was asked to drop out of high school on his very first day, just because his twelve siblings dropped out before him. Even though everyone around him laughed and called him “The Big Dreamer,” he knew his potential and made his dreams a reality!
